My feels for the makeup available in the United States is never-ending. Low-key 87% of the reason this trip was planned was for hectic drugstore hauls… kinda kidding, kinda not.
Makeup stores in America are next-level. While I am forever loyal to Priceline and Chemist Warehouse you cannot beat the lineup at CVS and Sephora. Unfortunately I was not able to get to Ulta (actually shattered) but I genuinely think I might have had to purchase a third suitcase if someone let me loose in Ulta.
My biggest tip for shopping both in drugstores like Walgreens, specialty stores like Sephora or departments like Macy’s would be to pick products that you know are either not available in your country or are significantly cheaper (don’t forget to add tax and conversion rate to calculate what you’d actually be paying). However with a product like foundation or brow pencil, if you happen to like it you won’t be able to get your hands on it easily in your country so I’d only recommend doing this for things like eyeshadow palettes etc… unless you stock up on a few of your favourites.
Amongst my collection of new products there are a few standouts but definitely a few where the hype outdid the actual product… the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray being a massive disappointment among them. My most coveted purchase, which did not leave me disappointed is the Ciaté Pretty Fun Fearless palette. The matte shades are so pigmented and so buttery, I cannot wait to do a look with these – this would be amazing for brown-eyed or hazel-eyed girls.
I picked up two of the Soap & Glory Archery Brow in Brownie Points for a muuuuch cheaper dupe of the Hourglass eyebrow pencil. I wish I had have picked up more of the Milani Baked Blushes (I got the Shade Luminoso) because these live up to the hype, I have never glowed like I have except when I wear Luminoso, I swear. This is a great universal dupe for Nars Orgasm blush, as well.
A hands down favourite of this haul would be the it Cosmetics CC+ creme which I wore every day after I bought it and will continue to wear it every day at work now that I’m home. Brittany also loves this for the most “does her skin really look like that?” look. I got mine in Fair.
Last but not least it would not be a proper US Haul if I did not talk about how cheap MAC lipsticks are in America… In Australia you can expect to pay $38+ so a cool $17 is nothing. I picked up Lady Danger (a matte orange based red), Really Me (a matte lavender nude) and Fleshpot (a satin, beige nude).
twobepicked have definitely been hit with the #wanderlust bug so this years travels have us pretty keen for a #europe2k18 and a Rockefeller Christmas.
